Different Graphic Card installed on my laptop than the one mentioned in service tag and retailer shop

Hello!

I bought Inspiron 15 5570 laptop with AMD Radeon 530 (2GB GDDR5) graphic card mentioned in the retailer shop, in the service tag of my device the driver is also for the AMD Radeon 530 (2GB GDDR5) in reality in the hardware its actually AMD Radeon R7 M460.

How is that possible and what should i do now?

Thanks for posting and for providing your service tag information in Private Message.  Apologies if your system was not as described by the retailer.

The system was purchased over a year ago, and unfortunately, we do not have control over what happens to systems after they have been purchased, so if the retailer changed parts or gave an incorrect description about the graphics card, you would need to speak to them for further resolution of this particular issue.

Robert

Welcome to the Dell Community @shoaib3435

You are correct it should have a "Discrete" AMD Radeon 530

As per the specifications for your model.

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/04/inspiron-15-5570-laptop%20/inspiron-5570-setupandspecifications/set-up-your-computer?guid=guid-2e5e93f4-7c20-42e0-a0e9-54e7a216671c&lang=en-us

It would be difficult for any "Retailer" to change a "Discrete" GPU since it is soldered to the system board.

Have you tried to search the "Service Tag" and see what was installed at the factory???

Let us know what you find.

Best regards,

Your experience isn't unique. There are a number of threads, including this one, where the Inspiron 5570 had an AMD 530 GPU, but after a driver update the PC now says it has an AMD R7 M460 GPU.

Those two GPUs apparently use the same video driver, so it's possible the driver can't tell the two of them apart...?

I wouldn't worry about it...

Hi, I am also having the same issue. The system information in my bios mentions AMD Radeon R7  instead of AMD Radeon 530. As per my service tag number, The GPU installed is AMD Radeon 530. Any Help regarding the matter?

@umar88-  Exactly what PC model do you have?

Did BIOS (or Device Manager) ever say it was an AMD Radeon 530? Why did you notice this now? Did you recently update drivers?

Since GPUs are hard mounted on laptop motherboard, they can't be replaced. And since this is likely an older model PC, there probably isn't much/anything you can do now...
