Error 0142 HDD Warrenty
Hello guys!!!
I am currently trying to fix a laptop for a friend that he recently bought. The problem is that the HDD I am trying to fix did not come with the laptop purchase. He installed the HDD him self and now there is the 0142 error. Is it possible that the warranty for the laptop covers this HDD?

Any third party hardware is not covered under Dell Basic Warranty, If Hard drive your friend has installed is bought from Dell and is under warranty then only it will covered by Dell. hope this answer you question

No, but if the drive is new and was purchased through an authorized channel, it should have at least a year warranty. Use the serial number on the drive and the drive manufacturer website to look up the warranty status and apply for an RMA.
