Extend C?

Dell G5 5587.  My C: drive is getting close to full, and I have plenty of unused room in D:.  I would like to extend C: but the option is grayed out.  Can someone please help with direction on how I can extend C:, thank you.

Welcome to the Dell Community  @dpoker52

You cannot extend the C:drive using the D:drive!!!

From what I can see is you have a 128GB SSD as "Primary Boot"

And a 1TB as "Secondary Storage"

What I have found is if you purchase a Dell laptop with an SSD/HDD as boot and a second SSD/HDD as storage, Dell does not set-up the second drive as "Primary storage".

You need to set the 1TB drive as "Primary Storage"

Go to "Settings" then "System"

Then click on "Storage"

Scroll down and click on "Change Where New Content is Saved"

Cut and paste your "Document" folder to the D:drive.

After that save your first "Document" to that folder and every "Document" after that will automatically go to the new folder on the D:drive.

Do the same with your Photo's, Music etc.

You can move the entire contents of Disk 1 to Disk 0 and resize the partitions before copying, then reconfigure the BIOS to boot from that drive. Of course, if disk 0 is a hard drive, then access times will be slower compared to the SSD. Doing this will also give you the opportunity to replace your SSD drive with a bigger one, so that you can copy all your data and partitions from disk 0 over to that drive.
