HDD upgrade from my Inspiron 7559 help.
My Inspiron 7559 has a 1tb hdd and I am looking to upgrade it to a 2tb hdd. I found one that fits but before I buy it I want to know if there is anything that I need to do before making the switch. Do I need to transfer any data or anything like that? How can I transfer my data from my current hdd to the new one? Thanks in advance for any and all help. Here is the exact model of my laptop that I have https://www.amazon.com/Dell-i7559-5012GRY-3840x2160-Touchscreen-i7-6700HQ/dp/B015PYZI8E?th=1 it is the model with the 8gb ssd

Welcome to the Dell Community @Buki_
You can use Macrium to transfer/image the HDD.

What you need to decide is if you want to purchase an M.2 SSD???
This part is 100% compatible with Inspiron 15 (7559)

Then you can transfer the system over to the faster M.2 SSD!!!
Then use your 1Tb HDD as "Default Storage"???
You would install the M.2 SSD.
Transfer the system from the old HDD to the new M.2 SSD using Macrium.
Then format the old HDD and set it up as your default storage device.

Your very welcome @Buki_
That's all you should need to do!!!
Install the new M.2 SSD.
Transfer image from old HDD to new M.2 SSD.
Remove old HDD and install new 2TB SSD.
Setup new 2TB SSD as "Default" storage.
Your done.

Thank you so much for your help. I actually ended up ordering a 128 m2 ssd when I ordered the new 2tb hdd. If I'm understanding correctly all I need to do is transfer my system files over onto the new ssd then I can simply replace the hdd with the new one without doing anything else as long as I dont mind downloading anything that is on the old hdd.

A little help with transferring your OS and Files, first off if you have more than 200GB of data on the hard drive you'll need move it to an external drive. Once you have the data down to less than 200 GB the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LClr3FPg4_4
