Include XPS thermal management system to G3 BIOS

Possible double of https://www.dell.com/community/Inspiron/Include-XPS-thermal-management-system-to-G3-G5-G7-BIOS/td-p/6202919 but i'm VERY UPSET that the bios update was only for G5 and G7 laptops...

Dell, please, give the same update for G3 users!

G3 users, please, reply in this thread to show dell that many G3 users are very disappointed that we cannot use our laptops with maximum performance.

I sent a private message about this to the admin of the dell community, but the answer was:

"We have mentioned it to the engineers, they replied that there are no current plans to roll out a new update for this issue on the G3."

Strong Exe what are you talking about? undervolting doesn't decrease performance at all. In fact for 8-th gen Intel CPU-s it increases clockspeeds at prolonged workloads. For those who are worried about overheating issues here are a couple guides how to undervolt CPU and GPU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBNP5I2y668&t=6s https://youtu.be/qeQUs4Wtyfs As for my personall issue with it - G3 definitely needs to have a fan control! I'm tired of noisy fans at COMPLETELY safe temperatures! even when temps are 45-55 degrees C(at which a CPU can work for like 20 years or more) the fans are still loud. WHY, Dell? Please fix this or give us fan control! As for those people who experienced freezing I had it too, until Dell replaced my motherboard under warranty.

Haven't tried it yet, but the Dell G3 3579/3779 BIOS 1.8.1 recently released March 14th lists under Fixes and Enhancements:

Fixes:
- Fixed the issue where the system does not detect the battery.

Enhancements:
- Added the Thermal Management feature in the Dell Power Manager application version 3.0.

I just reinstalled windows with all latest updates from Dell's site, I don't see that thermal control feature

Hey guys.. has anyone tried the 1.8.1 update already? is there any problems occurred in your system? I wanna know that this update won't be like the 1.7.. was the thermal management really not in the power management software?

Thanks..

I do not have a problem with bios 1.8.1 (nor before with 1.7.0). Thermal management is in the dell Power Manager software. I remember I installed Dell Power Management after updating the bios.

Hi, can anyone with 1.8.1BIOS report the following things in HWinfo64: 1. Max fan speeds under gaming load. On BIOS 1.2.1 they are 5500rpm and 5000rpm. 2. Min and Max Vcore. Without undervolting on 1.2.1 they are about 0.83v and 1.38v, averaging about 1.2v under load. Thanks.
