Inspiron 14R-5420, plugged in all day

Good afternoon,

I have an Inspiron 14R-5420 and I'm using at work. I use the laptop 12 hours straight! I'm leaving it plugged in 24 hours a day 7 days a week! Is there any problem? Or is it better to take out the battery and leave it plugged right into the charger? Although my laptop is old, about 10 years old, the battery is new!

@el kabong1

You have a 6-cell "SMART” lithium ion battery:

And a "SMART" AC adapter.

They communicate to each other through the "Center PIN" of the AC adapter.

The battery will stop charging when it is full so there is no need to remove the battery.

Your "SMART" power system does it all for you.

Welcome to the Dell Community  @el kabong1

Leaving it plugged in should be no problem.

Most laptops have "SMART" power systems.

To better assist you, we would need the exact model number of your laptop/desktop???

Identify your Dell:
