Inspiron 15-3573 "plugged in, not charging" with third-party charger
A family member has an Inspiron 15-3573 running Windows 10, and has misplaced the original charger. She's purchased an aftermarket 65w charger, which has more power available than the original 45w charger. It powers up and operates the laptop, but it's not recognized as the original charger so the battery will not charge.
How do I bypass this, and get it to charge the battery with the third-party charger? Is there a BIOS setting or registry setting to disable this check? "Buy a Dell charger" is not an answer, there's no good reason to throw money at this problem when I have a working charger that meets the specs. Thanks!

It's clear you're looking for the answer you want, but there isn't one: only a Dell OEM adapter will complete the charge circuit. There is no bypass.
The third party adapter will power the system, but will not charge the battery. It's likely an OEM adapter won't cost much more than the existing replacement adapter did.

It may not be the original battery. The computer is not compatible, so it may not be able to charge. It is recommended that you buy it in a physical store so that you can choose an adapter that suits your computer.
