Inspiron 15-7???, not detecting headphones
When I plug in my headphones, it never detects them, I have the "Show pop up dialog when device is connected" checked.
I uninstalled realtek, it worked, but instantly re-installed after I restarted.
I know the problem, I just don't know how to fix it.
When I go to sounds>playback my speaker and headphones are mixed into one

Follow these steps-
1. Open the Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the search box and hit Enter).
2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right-click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".
3. Select to "Update Driver Software".
4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".
6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.
7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).
8. Click "Next".
9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver).
10. Restart the laptop.
You will now switch to the native audio driver.
Use "generic software device" if "High Definition Audio" isn't listed.

Are you having the latest Realtek drivers?
Try plugging in your headphone and then rebooting the laptop.

Unfortunately, i am having the same problem with my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop. Do you know how hard it is to play fortnite without a headset? My laptop is not recognizing any input device that i connect into the Aux port. Can someone please help me with this problem as soon as possible!! PLEASE AND THANK YOU!! it is saying my input device is (2 - Realtek Audio). Also note that i uninstalled the audio driver and reinstalled it on the dell website properly AND THEN i followed the instructions to the "resolve" and still nothing!!

This is such a stupid system DELL created. It should just detect the headphones when plugged into a headset jack Why should you make a selection?

I did exactly as instructed. Heaphones work without Realtek but now there's a thumping/popping noise every 10-20 seconds. Drives me insane.
