Inspiron 17 - 7773 2 in 1 M 2 SSD Question
Hi,
I have had my Inspiron 17 7773 for about a year now. I was going to buy a M 2 ssd to help boost performance.
But I cant quite figure out what M 2 to buy. I know the M 2 slot can support SATA and Pcie/nvme. I'm just not sure if it can use Pcie/nvme speeds.
In boot is says it's an pcie drive, but i'm just confused.
Any help would be appreciated

Expect half that -- the Inspirons are set for GT2 (power saving) -- you will not see the full performance. Only the newer XPS models and the Alienware/Precision models will do the full GT4 mode.

If you look here, it's been verified that both SATA and NVMe will work

Thanks for replying so quick.
I know it will support nvme, I'm just wondering if it will support the 3500/3000 mbs speed in the computer.

One more question:
If I get an nvme that has, say, 1000/800 mbs would I only get half of that?
And sata would be full speed right?

NVMe at half speed will still beat full-speed SATA by a wide margin.
I would not go for an inexpensive SSD - you get what you pay for not only in terms of speed, but also the quality of the chips used to make the drive (which translates into reliability - or for cheap drives, lack thereof).
