Inspiron G5 15-5587, Mobile Connect, not compatible

I have a Dell G5, bought from a retailer in a sealed box this month, March 2019. The service tag says it was shipped from Dell on December 2018. But, when trying to install mobile connect, it says it is not compatible. Yes, I have already downloaded and installed the drivers on the drivers page, using the service tag.

Anyone that can assist me?

I thought mobile connect is for phones not laptops.

It's a program for PCs to let smartphones and PCs sync up.

There are other posts on this forum about problems with it.

* Click my name and private message me the PC service tag number
* You must register the service tag into your name
* Specifically, what drivers did you download and install?

Thanks for the response.

I have tried two drivers:

1) Dell-Mobile-Connect-Driver_6P0DG_WIN_1.3_A00

2) Dell-Mobile-Connect-Driver_WC67W_WIN_2.0_A00

I have done the registration into my name now, and PM'd you the service tag as requested.

Kind Regards,

Jakes

How to install Dell Mobile Connect app on any Windows 10 device

Dell Mobile Connect app

If the above version does not work, test Version 1.2.

Did all you say above, but get the error message:

The Dell Mobile Connect App on your PC is out of Date. Please update your app to continue.

Why do I have to go with this alternative option for a new notebook that is suppose to be able to use this app? Not good enough.

When did you get the error? Installing the Dell 1.2 or the Windows app link? By the way, did you register this retail purchased PC to yourself?

The App installed correctly with The windows App link. but when trying to run it, I get the errorCapture.PNG
Yes I did the registration, awaiting transfer to be approved.

Is there a Dell Mobile Connect icon on the taskbar? If yes, can you right click it and see if there is an option to update?

Yes there is, but there is no update option when right click. However, when I click OK with the error that says please update the app, then Microsoft Store opens, to update the app, but then get the following screen:

* Uninstall all references to DMC (Dell Mobile Connect) in Programs & Features
* When finished, restart the PC
* Once back into Windows, run Windows Update ( Start- Settings- Update & Security- Windows Update). Let it install all updates it finds
* When done, restart the PC
* Download/install this version of DMC
* When done, restart the PC
* Download/install the Microsoft Store app
* When done, restart the PC
