Upgrade Inspiron 15 5567 screen to FullHD?

Hi guys, i have the Inspiron 15 5567, Service Tag

The EDP 1.2 cable part number is: CKGJ6 / DC02002I800 / CN-0CKGJ6-00901

I have looked up other Inspiron 5567 models that come with a FullHD screen with different service tags such as the and they share the same EDP cable part number, i therefore assume that the cable is a 2-lane edp cable and therefore supports 1080p screens without having to replace the cable?

Can i use any 30pin edp 15.6" 1080p screen or will the bios only detect 1080p screens that dell install in their other inspiron 5567 variants as i'm fairly sure that the 1080p models of the inspiron 5567 do not have IPS screens, i want an IPS screen. The screen i am looking to get is this IPS screen: LP156WF6-SPB5 The existing screen is the  LP156WHU-TPA1

My 1080p Samsung LTN156HL02-201 panel arrived and it works perfectly. I didn't have to change the edp cable. It can show the dell boot logo and get in to bios. Very happy!

This is the video tutorial i followed to replace the screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob6a4h6okqY

The cable is likely fine, as you note.

If that panel was shipped in this model, it will work - if it was not, the system won't read its EDID correctly - meaning that it may work under Windows, but you won't have any BIOS display -- or, it may work partially, ending up giving you ghosted or multiple screens.  It may work - or may not -- it's try it and see, so be sure you have return privileges.

Notebooks work with the screens with EDIDs coded into their mainboard firmware -- they won't work with all screens, or as above, you may find the screen works only partially.

The other thing to consider is that if the system is under warranty, replacing the screen will void the warranty.

were you switching between touch and non-touch? I have a non-touch 5570 with the low quality TN screen and I want to switch it out for a 1080 IPS panel, (still non-touch) but I keep being told my eDP cable (0DDHWX) is 1 lane, and I can't locate one that says it is 2 lane/handles 1080.

Any advice is welcomed!

Hi,

Please let me know how is your FullHD screen working  ? Is there any issue?

Do we need to replace any cables apart from screen?

I am also looking to upgrade my dell inspiron 15 5567 non-touch HD to FullHD

Thanks!
