Upgrade dell Inspiron 15r 5520
I have Inspiron 5520
i5 2.5ghz
4gb ram
1tb
1gb gpu on board amd Radeon Hd7600
Want to upgrade to play latest games
Can I upgrade to 8gb, 12gb or 16gb ram which will be compatable
Also want 2gb or 4gb gpu
But it’s soldiered on board so which board can I upgrade to?
have heard Inspiron 7520 can support and which other board can I buy which will support or fit my Inspiron 5520 with higher gpu
And what else will I be required to change ?
And if not possible to upgrade want I can do to play latest games which require 2gb gpu
Thanks and regards in advance

The memory can be upgraded to 8G total. The GPU cannot be upgraded at all.
If you need a video upgrade, it's time for a new system.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Spenz
Not sure what @ejn63 was referring to??? "Old post"
Maximum Memory: 16GB

CPU can be upgraded.
HDD can be upgraded to an SSD if not already installed.

Hello guys
i bought an inspiron 5520 with 8 gb ram and 1tb hhd and I updated it with 16 gb DDR3L and a 2 tb ssd and this worked well and without any problems. just be sure about upgrading your system. By the way you can add caddy with another hard by removing your dvd writer but this will work with sata 2(300Mb/s) and your main storage place(first hdd or ssd) will work with sata 3 (600Mb/s) .
I have seen many comments that say inspiron 5520 work with sata 2 but this in not true and currently my system has a sata 3 (600Mb/s) which i checked with SiSoftware Sandra
