Behavior of SyncIQ with multiple Network-Rules

Hi Community,

I want to achieve the following:

Bandwidth limitation Workdays Weekend
50MBit/s 00:00-11:59 & 15:00-23:59 15:00-23:59
200MBit/s 12:00-14:59 00:00-14:59

now my question:

do I have to make a set of rules which run sequential:

WorkDay-50MBit 00:00 - 11:59 Mo-Fr

WorkDay-50MBit 15:00 - 23:59 Mo-Fr

WorkDay-200MBit 12:00 - 14:59 Mo-Fr

WeekEnd-200MBit 15:00-23:59 Sa+Su

WeekEnd-50MBit 00:00 - 14:59 Sa+Su

or is a parallel configuration possible

WorkDay-200MBit 12:00-14:59 Mo-Fr

WorkDay-200MBit 15:00-23:59 Sa+Su

ALWAYS 50MBit 00:00-23:59 Mo-So

or in other words:

what happens when two rules with different settings are running?

Does the rule with the higher bandwidth apply? or the lower? Or is there a dependency to the ID (lower ID is active)?

I wasn't able to find a document which provides this information.

Thanks in advance

Hi Sluetze,

Unfortunately, I have not seen 100% consistent behavior from SyncIQ with regards to bandwidth limit settings if you have conflicting (or overlapping rules).  If you want absolute control with a very fine grain as above, the safest way to do this would be to create the individual rules for the distinct times of the day.

If you are willing to play with it a bit, I have had success with setting a default (0:00 to 23:59) bandwidth and then a burst period (say 12:00 to 14:59 as above).  It seems to work with 2 conflicting rules, but when I recently tried to recreate this scenario with 3, it did not work.

Cheers,
Matt
