Isilon OneFS v7.2.1.2 - Update OpenSSL

Hello!

We have an Isilon Cluster using OneFS 7.2.1.2. The OpenSSL version is being flagged by our security scan. Currently installed is 1.0.1 (Built on Aug 17 2015)

We have been asked to upgrade to at least 1.0.2 or preferably 1.1.0. Is there any issue with this upgrade path? I have searched online and don't seem to be able to find a definitive answer.

If so, I'm assuming a yum update OpenSSL command should suffice on each affected node?

I am by no means an Isilon expert so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You can’t just update openssl withut losing support on the Isilon. It’s an appliance. You have to upgrade the OneFS Code to achieve an openssl update.

Study the OneFS Release Notes, to find out which one has a suitable openSSL version.

By Memory I guess you need 8.0.1.x

Hi bunsen82,

sluetz is correct in saying you need to upgrade OneFS. If you aren't quite ready to go the 8.0 branch for whatever reason, 7.2.1.5 includes OpenSSL 1.0.2.

At the time of this post, page 20 on this document confirms. https://support.emc.com/docu60143

Here is a list of Current OneFS software: https://support.emc.com/docu46145
