IsilonSD Edge - .ova will not mount VALUE_ILLEGAL:Value"VirtualSCSI"

EMC_IsilonSD_EDGE_OneFS_VM_8.1.2.0.ova

From VMware VCenter 6.5 >> Deploy OVF Template >> Select a resource

Fails with error message:

-41:7:VALUE_ILLEGAL:Value "VirtualSCSI" of ResourceSubType element not found in [Isilogic, Isilogicsas].

-49:7:VALUE_ILLEGAL:Value "VirtualSCSI" of ResourceSubType element not found in [Isilogic, Isilogicsas].

-57:7:VALUE_ILLEGAL:Value "VirtualSCSI" of ResourceSubType element not found in [Isilogic, Isilogicsas].

-65:7:VALUE_ILLEGAL:Value "VirtualSCSI" of ResourceSubType element not found in [Isilogic, Isilogicsas].

Is there a simple workaround for this issue?

Similar to Urgent : ViPR Controller 3.5 installation error - This does not apply however the case looks correct.

VMware vSphere 6.5 Release Notes

Deploying an OVF or OVA template fails for specific descriptors

Workaround: Modify the descriptor so that it is a valid descriptor according to OVF Specification version 1.1.

I am wondering if [Isilogic, Isilogicsas] should be changed to [Lsilogic, Lsilogicsas]

What is the valid descriptor? - thanks in advance

Hi Erik,

Did you ever find a solution for this issue? I'm facing the same error while trying to deploy IsilonSD Edge on a VxRail cluster.

Yes – not the easiest path. Assuming you have a VMware Enterprise Account, download for free VMware Workstation Pro. Mount the ova and then save it to the specific version of vSphere you are running. It will mount without any issues. Painful process, without question.
