Online Data migration within zones
Hi, To overcome performance issues on /ifs/data paths, we are thinking to migrate data from /ifs/data to /ifs/Tier1 zone.
Basically tier1 zones are configured with S nodes and
/ifs/data zones are configured with X nodes.
Source path: /ifs/data/folder1
Target path: /ifs/tier1zone/folder1
What is the best method to migrate this data online.
Any configuration changes required on server side.
All these are NFS shares.
Please suggest.

rough outline:
disconnect NFS clients
remove NFS export
remove quota settings for folder1, if any
use a plain mv on the Isilon to "migrate" folder1
re-establish quotas
re-establish NFS exports
let the clients mount from new path
A good practice for setting up the folder structure is
/ifs/ / /
You might consider adopting this scheme, in particular if you use
SyncIQ and/or multiple access zones, or want to be prepared for later introduction.
