an archive is in progress
We have an 8.0.0.0 cluster. I was running through the upgrade guide for 8.0.0.1 and I got to the part about running the upgrade compatibility check. When I run it (isi upgrade cluster assess /ifs/data/OneFS_8.0.0.1_Install.tar.gz) I get the following output - an archive is in progress, please try again later.
This cluster is solely used for a destination for synciq. What is it referring to about an archive is in progress? Is there a way to identify what the Isilon is doing. It's said this for over 24 hours and you'd think the whatever it's doing would finish at some point, but apparently not. Is there anyway to find out what this archive is and kill it if it's not critical?

Hi rgcda,
It sounds like you may have a SyncIQ job running. If you are working with RCM (Remote Change Management) they should have documentation on what that error message means for certain if it is not SyncIQ. You could open a Support ticket as well at https://support.emc.com/servicecenter/createSR for more assistance.
If you wanted to check for running jobs, you can run the following command from the source cluster (not the destination cluster that you are upgrading):
isi sync jobs view
If you have any running jobs on the target cluster, you can either wait for them to complete or cancel the job using:
isi sync jobs cancel
You will want to replace with the name of the SyncIQ job you wish to cancel.
Once that is done, you will want to temporarily disable the migration services to prevent a new job from starting. I believe the command is the same in 8.0:
isi services -a isi_migrate disable
Be sure to enable the services once the upgrade on the destination cluster is complete:
isi services -a isi_migrate enable

I opened a case but haven’t heard anything yet. There are no sync jobs running and this archive is in progress has been running for 24+ hours now.
Thanks for your assistance.

Hello. I've hit this same issue - did you get a resolution on this? (I've also opened a support case).

What was the issue here. I ran into similar issue. no running jobs. I get the following error:
The upgrade system is busy processing another request: Operation now in progress
Upgrade status: FAIL
Current upgrade Activity is currently Archive
Any idea? Do I clear the upgrade cluster archive?

Hi
check compatibility version for upgrade. If Gen6 only firmware 10 but if not gen6 only use version 9.
If you need cancel and restart process :
isi upgrade archive --clear
after
isi upgrade view
isi upgrade nodes firmware progress list
and
isi upgrade cluster firmware start
isi upgrade cluster firmware devices
regards

Yes
Please check if your archive is in loop.
Please run below command (multiple times) to check if your archive is in loop (changing its size from low-high-low).
#ls -l /ifs/.ifsvar/upgrade/archive
total 1955648
-rw-rw--- 1 root wheel 58242 date upgradeArchive-dateZ.tgz
-rw-rw--- 1 root wheel 498810880 DATE UpgradeArchive-DATE-TimeZ.tgz
drwxrwx--- 10 root wheel 1248 DATE-TIME wrk

1) Please get internal IP address of the nodes and note them.
# isi_upgrade_status | egrep "Address"
"Address" : "192.168.3.1",
"Address" : "192.168.3.2",
2) Run below commands.
# rm /ifs/.ifsvar/upgrade/LOCK
remove /ifs/.ifsvar/upgrade/LOCK? yes
# isi_for_array 'pkill -9 isi_upgrade_sup'
# mv /ifs/.ifsvar/upgrade /ifs/data/Isilon_Support/upgrade.bak
3) Please reset for the internal ip's noted from step 1
WARNING THIS UTILITY SHOULD ONLY BE USED AT THE REQUEST OF ISILON SUPPORT
# isi_upgrade_reset "192.168.3.1"
# isi_upgrade_reset "192.168.3.2"............
4) Please check the status
# isi upgrade view
Hope this helps..

I don't think it is disruptive but good idea to do after hours.
