max quotas domain and max access zones
Hi,
The "EMC ISILON GUIDELINES FOR LARGE WORKLOADS / Guidelines for workfloads of protocol connections, file system components, software modules, and network settings for OneFS 7.1.1" is very useful guide.
I want to know the number of max quota domains and the recommended limit value.
But the above guideline does not describe these values.
Does anyone know them ?
And, I have another question.
The "Isilon OneFS Version 7.1.1 CLI Administration Guide" describes the number of Access zones as recommended limit per cluster.
This value is 20.
But the above guideline describes the value is 5.
Does anyone know the reason of the difference ?
I think 5 is too little.
My customer environment needs more than 10 access zones.

The recommended limit for the number of quotas in OneFS 7.0 and 7.1 is 20,000. This is a per cluster recommendation.

Sorry for the confusion on this. We are going to change some of the verbiage in that document to make this clearer. The cluster can do 20 access zones. However, at this time, we are limited to 5 authentication providers for each type. In other words, you can have up to 5 different AD authentication sources/providers, 5 different LDAP authentication sources/providers, 5 different NIS authentication sources/providers. These can be used across, up to 20 access zones.
In some environments, customers will use just a few AD auth providers across 20 access zones. I understand the need for more authentication providers and access zones. There are plans to increase these in the future.
I hope that makes sense and clears up any confusion.

There is no timeline for increasing the number AD domains but the goal is to get to 20 over the next several releases.
5 is the recommended limit. There are a number of factors including the number of access zones, number of AD groups and users and a few others that come into play.
