15R SE 7520 (Waves Maxx Audio not working)

Dear Dell team,

  • 15R SE 7520 speakers support Waves MaxxAudio
  • Everything worked fine for many people, untill the recent Windows 10 upgrade
  • Currently, myself and many others complain about the missing Waves Maxx Audio feature
  • Dell drivers page does not provide any related audio drivers (for Windows 10, 64-bit)
  • Dear Dell team, please provide recommendations in order to fix the problem!

  • Hence, shall I install the Win 7 Audio Driver (from Dell website) ?
  • Or, Win 8 / 8.1 ?
  • Which one is Win 10 compatible ?

Hello. According to Microsoft most Win 7, 8 and 8.1 drivers are compatible with 10. However audio drivers can be finicky. I would try all of them, one at a time until finding one that works, but you might have better luck if you install them using compatibility mode. Here is one way to do that:

1. Download and save the audio driver to your desktop or any convenient location on the hard drive..
2. Double click on the new folder to extract (unzip) the driver files.
3. The extractor wizard will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be at "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Write down the exact location that the wizard creates.
4. If the driver begins to install automatically, halt (cancel) the installation.
5. Browse to the driver files on the hard drive (the location you wrote down).
6. Find the "setup.exe" file.
7. Right click on setup.exe to open the context menu.
8. Select the Properties.
9. Select the Compatibility tab.
10. Check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for"... Winxxx" (whatever Windows the driver was originally intended for.)

If doing that doesn't help then I would just revert the laptop back to Win7 where the audio worked right.

Summary problem:

Due to unknown reason my Maxx Waves audio equalizer disappeared

Proposed solution:

- Make restore point

- Download Conexant audio drivers win 7 / win 8 / win 8.1 from Dell website

- Uninstall current audio driver and restart

- If necessary, install audio drivers one by one (restart to test outcome)

What I did:

- After the download of the audio drivers, i was preparing to install the drivers

- However, afterwards I realized, installation of the downloaded drivers was no longer necessary

  I explain:

-  Firstly, uninstall Conexant audio driver in Device Manager

-  During uninstall you will receive option to delete the driver (Dont Do This)

-  Then restart

-  After restart Maxx Waves sound equalizer was back (but no sound)

-   So I made 2nd restart (and the sound was also back  :D

Cheers Happy New Year

I then can adjust Waves Maxx but I do not understand it any effect or rather Waves Maxx used to do. You can explain to me to understand it? Plus I have some sound problems. When I open any audio file playback, the sound is a few minutes about 3 seconds before descending back to normal. If you have encountered this case please help

Update:

  • It seems some other Dell models also experience the same problem.
  • One suggested solution is installing older driver (Windows 7/ 8 / 8.1)

  • My system has been upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10.
  • Hence, shall I install the Win 7 Audio Driver (from Dell website) ?
  • Or, Win 8 / 8.1 ?
  • Which one is Win 10 compatible ?

@ namtuocdn:

  • Maxx Audio effect on your laptop:    www.maxx.com/dell-inspiron-15r/
  • You mentioned your Maxx Audio works properly on your Dell Inspiron 15R 7520.
  • Did you upgrade to Win 10 ?
  • If yes, did you upgrade from Win 7 / 8 / 8.1 ?
  • Can you also mention your audio driver version ? (gracias)
