7-1 multi card reader problem

I recently purchased a Inspirion 15 3521 with a 7 in 1 card reader. located in the front of the laptop below the touchpad on the frame. I cannot get my xD-picture card into the opening? hence, cannot read the card data. this is from a older digital camera. I have tried inserting the card top in both up/upside down. when I try sideways it is too small to get back. don't want to force it. what is the problem if anyone knows, before I have a chat with tech support thanks
