8 Beeps on startup and black screen

When I try to start up laptop, a series of 8 beeps is heard and repeats until I press the power button again. I don't have access to an external monitor - what can I try to fix this issue?

Hi Astrong,

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.

1. Switch off the computer.

2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.

3. Remove the battery from the computer.

4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the LCD works.

8 beeps on the Dell laptop means there is an issue with the LCD display. Sometimes it may be a problem with the slot on the motherboard where the LCD display cable gets connected which could lead to motherboard faulty. To isolate if its an Lcd screen issue or systemboard we will need to check if system works on external monitor.
