8600 LCD specs
I have been searching the net for the specifications (veritcal and horizontal sync range) for "LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array, NO-SPWG, 15.4, SHARP" (part # U0674). Has anyone had any luck in finding this information? If so, please respond. I am working on something that requires this information.
I wish dell provided better hardware specifications on their site!

functional ranges, for use in X or something, would be vsync 31.5-150.0 and hsync 48.0 -> 0.0.

Can you paste the URL where you got that info? I appreciate the response, but I'm specifically looking for the horizontal and vertical sync ranges.
Thanks!

Hence the pretty wideband ranges I gave for hsync and vsync - you put them that wide so the Xserver will recognize the highend hsyncs as valid for the moinitor and go from there.
Though i dont know why you are writing your own LCD definitions, there are tons of sites that have working XF86Configs you could adapt - just search google for 'linux inspiron 8500'
