8700m GT on inspiron 1720?

cause they told me that my system could't do a 7200rpm or the x9000 either.

No,because i know the dell systems and which GPU's go in the systems.

And the 8700 only goes in the XPS M1730

Ok, I'm sorry I don't think I'm being clear or I'm missing something.

I know which card go in which system also but what matters is the port and size, if those 2 are the same then it will work.

what I'm asking is that have you seen the 2 cards and do you know if there is a size difference? I know they both use pci-e.

More likely, the BIOS, which doesn't recognize a card it's not written to support.
