AC Adapter polarity - Latitude
I recently got a new work computer (Latitude E7250) and got a new AC adapter with it. I wanted to confirm whether I could still use my old adapter as a spare, so I checked out the voltage and amps, which look to be fine. However, the polarity on the new adapter is different than the old one. Will this be an issue? Does polarity matter if the laptop is docked, meaning does the dock compensate for differences in polarity from the adapter?
Old adapter output: 19.5 V, 4.3A; polarity - c +
New adapter output: 19.5 V, 3.4A; polarity + c -

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
It is NOT advisable to plug an adapter with a wrong polarity into a device. It will sometimes not supply power and in some cases cause damage to the device or the adapter eventually.

Can you comment whether the dock makes a difference? Does this negate the adapter polarity differences?
Additionally, is there a way to confirm on the laptop/battery what polarity is required?

Dock does not negative the polarity differences.
Hope the below table helps
AC ADAPTER::
Input Voltage
100-240 VAC for 65 W/90 W
Input Current (maximum)
1.7 A for 65 W
1.5 A for 90 W
Input Frequency
47-63 Hz
Output Current
3.34 A (continuous) for 65 W
4.62 A (continuous) for 90 W
BATTERY ::
Voltage
11.1 VDC (3-cell)
7.4 VDC (4-cell)
