AMD Radeon HD 7730M not engaging

Hi all, 

So I am realizing that I am having trouble with my Switchable Graphics on my Inspiron 15r SE. It's frustrating. At first my AMD Radeon HD 7730M was just simply not working. Now I believe it's not engaging when necessary. From what I can tell, my Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 is doing all of the work. 

I have contacted Dell Customer Support, we did DellConnect, I thought they fixed the issue but I seem to be wrong. I noticed this graphics issue originally because when I try to play a graphics demanding game the game will crash. 

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi xcftw1 ,

Please try the following steps which might help:

  • Download and save the Catalyst Software Suite from AMD website (do not run the .exe now).
  • Click “Start”, type “Programs and Features” and press enter.
  • In “Programs and Features”, select “ATI Catalyst Install Manager”, click “Change” (Refer to screenshot below).


 

  • Click “Next” in first window (Refer to screenshot below).

  • Check “Express Uninstall ALL ATI Software” and click “Next” (Refer to screenshot below).

  • Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the uninstallation.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Run the .exe file which was previously download for installing Catalyst Software Suite.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
  • Restart the computer.

Try the steps and check the functionality.

Unfortunately now the device doesn't work at all.

Hi xcftw1,

Install the AMD video drivers from the below link:

http://dell.to/Z0iYX1

After installing the video drivers on the computer, restart the computer and check if it works.
