Alienware M15x Command Centre - Adjusting Touch Pad to turn off when external mouse connected

Hey there dell community, I have a problem for ya'll to solve.

This ones a perplexing one and nermous people have encounterd it but still has not been resolved as far as I know.

When in the Alienware Command Centre, if you go to "Alien Touch" then check the "Disable touchpad when external..." I get an error every time, then the application crashes.

The setting does remeber the checked value but gets reset when the computer is restarted.

The error is as follows;

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.

------------------------

Would be brilliant if this problem could be amended as its awkward when typing on the computer or even playing games and your palm brushes the pad and bam you'v done something, completely different.

I have been getting this error since the first day I've bough this laptop (October 2009!) :emotion-6:

There have been a few other issues as well with the DVD drive, OSD and I can't even schedule a CHKDSK upon reboot. And looks like my (compulsory) 1-year Dell subscription has decided to play hide-and-seek instead of providing any form of help... :emotion-12:

dude i have this kind of error before

the way to solve it is remove your "Command Center" and all the "Synaptics Pointing Device Driver" and than reboot your pc

after that you must install the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver 1st than install the Command Center.
