Alternate charger for dell laptop
Hello everyone,
Can i use hp charger for dell laptop n5010?

It isn't a matter of matching voltages. The Dell charge circuit requires a proprietary chip be in the adapter itself, which non-Dell adapters won't have. The charge circuit won't sense the adapter, so the battery won't charge.
You can power the system but the battery charge circuit requires an OEM Dell AC adapter.

Not if you want to charge the battery, no. If the power output is the same (voltage and current) and the jack fits, it may power the system but it will not complete the charge circuit - the battery won't charge.
You also run the risk of damaging the system if the jack is of different polarity.

Thanks EJN63, Power output is same as my original charger and jack also fits...laptop is running perfectly but battery is not charging. could you tell me output voltage of charger's center pin...in my hp charger center pin not working.

My last question is...will it be harm to power the system if i use hp charger?
