Audio is preventing video from playing

Hi-

I've noticed that my Realtek audio driver is preventing my computer from playing online video, ie msn, etc. Yet, when I disable the Realtek driver I'm able to play the video. But, then I'm not able to hear any sound. Any suggestions on how to fix this conflict? My audio driver is the most recent driver update from the dell website. So, I know that can't be the problem.
