BEGGING FOR ENLIGHTENMENT - HOW CAN TWO D410'S BOTH BEAT A D430 DUAL CORE 1.33GHz IN FOUR BENCHMARKS?
I bought a D430 Core 2 Duo 1.33GHz (U7700 processor) as a second laptop for myself and a Latitude D410 2.13 GHz laptop for my 11 year-old son. I already had an old reliable D410 1.7 GHz I like. For kicks, I decided to benchmark the 3 computers. The results were surprising to say the least.
I ran five benchmarks. In four of them, one single core D410 or the other beat the smarty pants off the dual D430. Most surprising was the Auslogics Benchmark test of graphics. Both D410's have the same Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML chipset, with 128mb of memory, and the D430 has the newer Intel GMA950 chipset with 224mb of memory (and the 945GM video card).
1. Auslogics Benchmark said the video card wasn't good enough in any of them to test 3D graphics, but it tested 2D graphics. The scores of both D410's were higher. Did I mention that I was confused, surprised and baffled by this. Anybody know why?

Only in the CPU did the dual core win.
2. SuperPi Mod 1.8 said the D410 2.13GHz computed numbers faster than the D430: Numbers below are seconds, rounded off

3. CPU Free Benchmark 2.2 found the same results, with the two D410's reversed but still ahead - again, this in seconds

5. Only in the MCS CPU Benchmark 2008 did the D430 come out ahead, assuming a higher final score is better

Anyone know how these results could be?

the U-processors are tuned for low power consumption - not performance.
