BIOS password issue
Hi everyone.
I've got a problem with setting the admin password on bios A02 at Vostro 1540. Machine just doesn't switch to "locked" mode, after reboot it goes straight to OS, like bios password never been set.
Please advice, is it defective machine/firmware or maybe I've missed something?

The admin password isn't the BIOS password - be sure you've set the BIOS password, which locks the system at powerup. The admin password simply locks the BIOS setup so users can't get in and change settings.

Does the BIOS have a valid service tag number in it?

Thanks for answer.
Sorry, I've confused myself and everyone else. It doesn't have anything with OS.
The problem is admin password which is not blocks ability to change the settings.

When I'm setting the admin pass, Unlock Setup Status doesn't change to Locked, and all settings are still changeable after reboot.
