I sent you the registry key from my i8600 with Dell Bluetooth. I am using the Dell/Widdcomm Bletooth stack. It worked fine even after installing SP2 on my machine.
What exactly isn't working with your bluetooth? Are you sure it doesn't work at all? Normally the problem with SP2 is that it has an integrated micsoroft BT stack which has less features than the Dell provided Widdcomm stack. Windows prefers installing his own stack since those BT drivers are digitally signed by microsoft whereas the Widdcomm ones aren't. Sometimes you can fix this problem by manually selecting the Widdcomm driver.

Dell released updated BlueTooth drivers since SP2 was released. I have a D800 and the new drivers fixed my BlueTooth problems.

I did not need to change my registry.

I have a problem too with my Inspiron 8600 bluetooth. When I bought the machine, it was pre-configured with Windows XP Home and bluetooth is working fine. I upgraded the OS with XP Professional and thhe bluetooth now is not working.  I talked to the technical guys where I bought the machine and was told that because I installed XP Professional and the machine was for XP Home only ( isn't that a stupid reply from a technical guy???). Anyway, they are having problems too with other Inspiron Centrino machines.

Anybody has a solution to this problem? I tried all the drivers (even the latest one) but it doesn't work.

It indeed is a very funny reply by the Dell support person. This week end I am taking my laptop to Dell as its under warranty :-) .. lets see how these guys can help me out. Until then.. keep fingers crossed and pray for me.

I just brought my notebook to the support guy and they will try to re-install the Windows XP Home (???) and I've been telling them to resolve the problem under Windows XP Pro because even though they were able to resolved it in Home Edition, I will upgrade it with Windows XP Pro because I need some functionalities in XP Pro that were not available in XP Home. We'll see tomorrow if they will be able to resolve this problem.

Been searching the Dell Support website but they don't have any solution to this. I am planning to disable totally the bluetooth and buy a separate bluetooth device. Anyway, I am planning to sell my notebook and buy another brand, I don't know what problem I might get in the future with this machine.

Hi,

No my friend, Dell is a good brand. If you simply purchase one BlueTooth Dongle (Belkin or some other brand), then nothing better than that. I too have kept this as my action if the problem remains unresolved with win xp pro.

I have evaluated Acer, IBM, Toshiba, LG, Compaq, Sony, etc and finally decided to purchase Dell, because really its performance is pretty well.

Wifi, Sound, LightWeight its better than any other brand. We have literally done testing of each of these and Dell remains better than anything.

I am into software development and hence all of the above absolutely meet my requirements. But I request you to please write to me if your problem of bluetooth gets resolved. Drop me mail on reetesh@widesystems.com, I'll really appreciate that.
