Boot-up stops once it has registered the CD/DVD ROM
Hi,
I have an old Inspiron 1501, upon turning it on it begins the boot-up sequencing, but then stops once it acknowledges the CD/DVD ROM. Any ideas of what the problem is? It has run great until now.

I would suspect that the HD has stop functioning. You can try removing the HD & see if the start up sequence goes any farther.
