Can Inspiron 13 7000 (7378) support 32GB RAM?

I purchased this configuration and wonder if it can be upgraded to 32GB RAM:

  • Inspiron 13 7000 Series (Intel) - 7378
  • 7th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U Processor
  • 16GB Single Channel DDR4 2400MHz (16GBx1)

The service manual @

http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/inspiron-13-7378-2-in-1-laptop_service%20manual_en-us.pdf

says

The Inspiron 13-7378 has two SODIMM (RAM) slots, which are accessible by removing the base cover.

So, there are two slots: one is occupied with a 16GB SODIMM and the second is empty.

The manual also says

Your computer supports 4 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB dual-channel DDR4 memory of up to 2133 MHz.

I read this as "16GB DDR4 memory can be used." But, I wonder if Dell means "the total capacity of the computer is 16GB."

According to

ark.intel.com/.../Intel-Core-i7-7500U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz-

the CPU supports up to 32GB RAM.

Question: has anyone installed a second 16GB SODIMM, to increase the notebook's memory to 32GB?

I just put Crucial 2 x 16 GB DDR4 2400 memory on my 7378 (I was in doubt but your PC had one 16 GB and thus I concur that all memory pins are supported).   It booted and BIOS shows 32 GB memory.   Windows 10 memory test passed.  I used the 2 x 16 GB set so that SODIMMs are matched.   Dell Support should have said that it works under what conditions, rather "try it".    Thank you for asking.  Otherwise I did not try.

This is good news!  I have 2x16GB sticks waiting for the arrival of an Inspiron 5378, which also supposedly has two ram slots.  And the 5378 service manual has the same verbiage about supporting up to 16GB SODIMMs.  But the Dell website is pretty cagey, and suggests the machine only supports up to 16GB RAM.  But if 32GB works in the 7378, I'm expecting it will also work in the 5378.

Hi renh0ek,

Dell Inspiron 7378 supports 16GB of maximum memory. The processor supports 32GB of maximum memory but Dell has not tested the system with 32GB memory on it. You can have try on it
