Can the XPS15 run without the battery?

I am looking to purchase a XPS 15 (L502x) Core i7 2630 laptop.  This will be used most of the time plugged into a monitor/keyboard/mouse so I would like to leave the battery out to not wear it out.  Will the Dell XPS run without the battery in?
