Capacitive Strip Buttons - links broken?

The capacitive strip on my XPS laptop has 3 buttons on it in including a "settings" button, Waves audio and a button you can set to do whatever. I recently upgraded from Win 7 to Win 8 and since then, the buttons flash when I touch them but do nothing. I have looked through settings to try to solve the issue and have found nothing helpful. Is it possible to fix them on my own, or I should I have it looked at?
