Clicking noise.

Hello:

I have recently discovered a clicking noise on my dell computer Inspiron 15r  5521.  This happens when both the battery in inserted or not.  I am not able to turn on the computer either way.  How do I get rid of the noise, and do I have to buy a new battery or try to recharge the current battery?  Is it also the possibility of a charger problem??  Thanks to all for your time.

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall both memory modules.  Verify that the AC adapter LED is ON before you plug in the notebook end.  If it's not, the adapter is bad.  Also verify that the adapter is silent (does not  click).

If the adapter is OK, try powering up on AC only (no battery).  If it will, but won't with the battery installed, the battery is bad.

If it still won't power up, it's the mainboard that's bad.
