Someone I talked to on the Dell parts line said that CompUsa is an authorized service agent for Dell. Does anyone know if this is true?

Yes. But they don't tell you who. You call for onsite service, and the send someone. If you have mail in service, they tell you how to send it in.
My son's college has an authorized service center. However, it is forbidden from servicing business computers, i.e. they MUST be registered to an individual, not a company. He can just walk in with his PC, no call necessary.
