Computer will not start--error message
I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 which is a little over 1 year old. As soon as I power up the following message appears:
A disk read error has occurred press ctrl-alt-del to restart. As soon as I press CAD a flash of the Dell start up page flashes and it goes right back to the [collapse]original message, while the Dell start up page flashes and I press F2 or F12. I was able to run the Dell Diagnostics tests and passed all the tests. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you run the extended drive test (takes about 90-120 min)? The quick test is often not definitive, but it sure sounds like the hard drive is toast.

My problem was resolved by running the Vista Installation CD and running startup repairs. Thanks everyone
