Connect Dell Vostro 3750 Laptop (HDMI Out) to Dell U2412M Monitor (Display Port In).

Hello,

I bought a Dell U2412M monitor last week and would like to connect my Dell Vostro 3750 laptop to it. I would like to use the HDMI socket from the laptop to the Display Port socket on the monitor. I have an HDMI to Display Port cable, but am unable to get an image on the monitor through this cable. I have checked that the cable is in correct working order, and that it allows the signal to travel both ways.

If I use the VGA cable from the laptop to the monitor, then I am able to get an image. I have installed the driver from the CD that came with the monitor.

Is someone able to advice me with how I can get an image from my laptop using the HDMI socket to the monitor using the Display Port socket.

Thanks.

My desktop PC is already connected to the monitor using the DVI cable.

Hi kayare01,

You may try to change the input source of the monitor while connecting the laptop to the monitor using HDMI port. Please refer to the monitor’s Owner Manual from the link: http://bit.ly/15HSMmV.

Hope this helps. please feel free to reply for any further assistance.
