Connecting items in USB ports disables wifi

So I'm running a Dell Vostro 3550 on Windows 7 (32-bit OS) and whenever I connect a device to either USB port on the right hand side of the laptop my connection to local wifi cuts out. I have two devices I regularly use, a standard wired Dell laser mouse and an Advent wireless keyboard. Either of these devices work fine if plugged into the port on the left hand side of the laptop next to the power input and do not impede usage of wifi, but either of them in any combination plugged into either of the right hand USB ports stops all wifi connectivity. The two devices had worked normally in any port up until yesterday so I'm unsure as to what has changed.
