D420 Hardware Driver Help.

Hi there,

I am hoping someone can help me. I have recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my D420 and just wanted to know if there is a driver for the sim card network slot under the battery?

I never used it while I had XP on it, so I don't even know if it works. I would just like to know if this bit of hardware is compatible with 7 and if so, where can I get the driver/software from.

Thanks!!

There is no driver for the SIM card slot.

That Slot is for a SIM card for Optional WWAN card.

Neither works without the other.

Sierra MC8775 card into the available WWAN PCI slot next to the PCI WLAN card.

Then put in your unlimited package 3G SIM card in the slot under the battery.

Put in the battery back in the slot.

Thanks for this.

I have actually got a WWAN card installed. This is the card I have just taken a picture of.

The driver for the SIM comes from the Network of the Provider.  AKA if its Sprint then comes from Sprint.

If its AT&T then it comes from AT&T etc.  Also note that the sim slot is not installed on some models that support a sim slot.  If the socket/holder is there you are fine.   I have no idea what card that is and i cannot read or see any Dell part numbers.   Not all 420's come with the slot for the sim card by default.
