DELL XPS 1645 Fan runs constantly,
I have tried every thread here and seen no answers only the issues with throttle. I have updated to the A12 bios and all other drivers are up to date. The fan even runs just using Internet explorer. Heaven forbid that I turn open 2 windows at once and or op, op, hold you breath, turn on a card game. Does anybody else has this issue and is it a defect or do we have to live with this fan always on. If so I am swapping this out! Any reply would help and fixes muchly appreciated!

I have the same problem with Studio 1558 and Vostro 3300. Since it affects so many models, I suspect it is an Intel management driver / Dell BIOS issue. Wouldn't it be nice for a Dell executive to respond here to the thousands of fan issue related posts.

Make sure that the fan, fan filter and rear heat sink are dust free. You may need to do this every week or two. I was having the same problem and these simple actions turned it from an overheating nightmare into a machine that would run at full speed and then return to 49-54 degrees in moments.

The full speed fan issue just started for me. Thanks to WMB194's advice, I removed the back of my XPS 1645 and used canned air to clean the fan area and exit port. I only saw very light dust on the back of the cover panel but none around the fan (odd). This seemed to quell the full speed fall issue. FYI, I have a 3-M static mat at my desk to prevent any static discharge issues when working with equipment and I use a laptop cooler with a very large fan.
