DELL XPS 9550 touchpad was out of place due to battery bulge

Hi Guys,

Just got the battery replaced for my XPS 9550, which i had bought less than a year ago.

The touchpad was not working( the clicks were not working as the battery was pushing the touchpad out of its place)

After 10 days of back and forth , finally got it fixed, the new battery did the trick. The service guy was shocked to see that the battery was so swollen and told me i was lucky it did not explode or something.

Did anyone else have similar experience?

Any idea what is the reason for this

1)Bad battery?

2)Power management bug that is making the battery swollen due to software issues?

How do i avoid it happening the same to the new battery.

Thanks

It's a bad battery - not uncommon in very slim systems where there's little or no space around the battery.  The problem first surfaced (and is in fact fairly common) with Macbooks - which were the first to use the design where there's no shell around the battery cells.
