Dark Screen

I have a Latitude D800. The screen started to flicker and now it goes dark after a minute of being on. When I look closely I can see a faint image of the display. I booted into autodiagnostic mode and received a 3-2-3 code. I can't find out what that means. One of the hinges connecting the monitor to the base is also loose, but I can't figure out how to tighten it. I don't know if that's related. Can someone tell me what the problem is? Thanks!

Hi Frenchvanillacoffee,

It looks an issue with the screen. I would suggest you to run the LCD BIST to check the functionality of the LCD. To run the LCD BIST (Built in Self-test):

  • Power off the computer.
  • Press and hold the 'D' key on the keyboard while pressing the power button, then release both at the same time.
  • This will initiate a Grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green, then White screen.
  • Please check if the colored screens are clearly visible.

I would also suggest you to connect an external monitor and check if the issue persists. Here is the service manual for your reference. It might be helpful in tightening the loose base.
