DataSafe Upgrade pop-up

Can anyone tell me why I can't get rid of the pop-up "Upgrade Recommended" re the Dell DataSafe Local Backup Premium Edition?  The options "Remind me later" and "Do not remind me" do not get rid of the pop-up.  It returns every 30 seconds or so.  Dell Technical Support told me today that the only way to get rid of the pop-up is to purchase the upgrade!  I find that unacceptable, and also probably wrong.
