First, realize you're attempting an unsupported upgrade.  8G is the official max for this system.  You may be able to make 16 G work, but no one will guarantee it.

For the best odds:

1. Yes, update the BIOS.  No, that won't have any effect on Windows 10 eligibility.

2.  DON"T use "value" RAM - Corsair ValueSelect, Kingston ValueRAM, etc.

3.  DO understand most suppliers WILL NOT guarantee compatibility, so be sure you understand your supplier's restocking policies.  Even those that DO guarantee compatibility won't in this case since you're exceeding the official supported RAM limit (i.e., Crucial).

in this post a person verified 16GB RAM working on it and on kingston site they also listed 16GB compatible.

last night i reverted back to windows 7. if i update BIOS and install new RAM and then do a fresh windows 10 install, will it get activated automatically as it activated automatically when i did a fresh install after upgrade process was completed.
