Dell 1520 Won't boot

Hi,

My dell 1520 died a year ago. I remember thinking the motherboard died.
But when I booted it up today, it went past the boot screen, gave some error messages and said something along the lines of date was wrong. I let me change it and boot it in the bios. I tried booting ubuntu through a usb stick and it showed the xubuntu loading screen, but failed afterwards.

When I booting again, it was just a blank screen.

The scroll lock and caps lock blink, and numlock stays on.

So does that mean my motherboard is fine and that it's just the cmos/bios battery

Could be- and for about $3, the battery is the first thing to replace.
