Dell 15R 5520 New HDD Not Recognised by BIOS

Two weeks outside the warranty period my laptop HDD failed (ePSA Error 2000:0148). I purchased an identical HDD (Seagate 500GB 5400rpm etc). However when this drive is in the machine I get a series of continuous beeps (30) then the Dell logo appears - allowing me to hit F2 to access the Insyde20 settings screen. This shows the new HDD is not detected. IF I put the failed HDD back in the machine. The Insyde20 settings screen shows th HDD has been detected. What can I do to get the machine to recognise the new HDD ?

Have your retailer or Seagate replace the drive - it's DOA.

That's a good indication the new one is DOA.

Will do - but how come the laptop recognises the failed HDD and can't even see the DOA new HDD ?
