Hi sdmclean,,

Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 has the following processor options available.

1. i3-2310M

2. i5-2410M

3. i5-2520M

4. i5-2540M

5. i7-2630QM

Different Intel Core i7 processors come with 2, 4 or 6 cores. The i7-2630QM processor compatible with your system is a quad core processor.

Note: Dell does not offer processor or motherboard upgrades after sales, nor does Dell recommend upgrading the processor or motherboard in any given system. Therefore, Dell cannot support systems in which the motherboard or processor has been upgraded through third-party services or products. In case you upgrade the processor, the hardware warranty on the system would be void.

Please reply in case of any further issues. I will be glad to assist.

Up to 8G total system RAM and any 2.5" 9.5 mm or slimmer SATA notebook drive (SSD, HDD, SSHD) you wish.

Just be sure you know what you're in for before beginning a drive replacement - the mainboard has to come out,

requiring a total system teardown on this model.

okay, took my laptop to geek squad and they swapped out the drives. when i got home i installed Win 7 but now its saying that the drivers for Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI COm Controller, SMI Bus Controller, and USB Controller are not installed.

Another issue is that i bought an 8gb stick of ram but its saying that only 3.41 of it is useable.

HHHHEEEELLLLPPPPPPP!

ok, figured out that the reason the ram was cut off was because i installed a 32bit instead of a 64bit OS. All I need to know now is why the drivers are no longer working.
