Dell Inspiron 15 5521 won't start, it is beeping continously with an interval of ~3s and the screen stays black.
Hello,
Dell Inspiron 15 5521 won't start, it is beeping continously with an interval of ~3s and the screen stays black. The sound comes from the speakers.
It happened before but the computer used to at least boot.
We thought it was a hard drive failure at first but nothing changes with another HDD or if we just remove it completely.
Other people had the same problem:

Three beeps means a faulty mainboard - if you're under warranty, call Dell with the error and they'll arrange a replacement.
If you're out of warranty, the board will run in the $200-250 range depending on whether it's an i3 or i5 CPU (the CPU is permanently soldered to the board and will be replaced along with the board itself). Add another $100 or so in labor with a computer shop if you can't change the board yourself.
